This blog post is for all of the women who are married. My husband and I have only been married a little over a year and I must say it has been the best time of my life. I thought I knew what ” I love you” meant when you are just dating, but I must say it’s different when you are married. Marriage takes the meaning of “I love you” to a whole other level. As a christian wife, it is my desire to always listen to God and what he wants from me as a wife. One of the most important roles as a wife is being your husbands helpmate. Many women when they hear this get frustrated thinking this makes you less than your husband, but in fact being his helper is such a big job. I do believe the husband is the leader, but husband and wife are created equal. You are not below or above your husband, you are there to stand right beside him. Here are a few ways to be your husbands helpmate..
- PRAY FOR YOUR HUSBAND: Ladies, if you are not covering your husband in prayer who is? Pray for him. He has a lot on his plate. He needs your prayers.
- CREATE A WELCOMING PLACE FOR HIM TO COME HOME TO: You never know what kind of day your husband had at work, instead of nagging about the clothes not being in the hamper, ask how his day was over supper.
My eyes have just recently been opened to these things. Sometimes it is easy to get upset when he leaves his socks laying all around the house or doesn’t take out the trash. I get it ladies.. But, then I had a thought come to mind. I get to do these things for him and I know he appreciates it. Christ should be our example of loving others especially our husbands. Marriage is an ongoing, vivid illustration of what it costs to love an imperfect person unconditionally the same way that Christ has loved us. Love your husbands, honor your husbands. Pray for him. Above all keep God at the center of your marriage. ” “A chord of three strands is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12
